F.A.Q.
At North Kitsap Homeschool Community, “all-inclusive” means that we welcome all homeschooling styles, backgrounds, and belief systems. We are LGBTQ+ friendly, secular, and support families with neurodivergent children. We are not affiliated with any religion or curriculum, and we don’t require families to subscribe to a particular educational philosophy. Our focus is on shared values like kindness, cooperation, and community-building—so families from all walks of life feel welcome and respected here.
We meet every Monday and Tuesday during our semesters.
Families who join our Social Membership also meet on Mondays for two hours of games, clubs, and relaxed hangout time. Social members are included in all our field trips, which happen every six to eight weeks, and also get connected to our broader network of member-led events and meetups.
Tuesdays are for four hours of connection, learning, and fun. The day includes two class blocks, a relaxed lunch and recess hour, and our new Community Hour—a flexible time where kids can socialize, create, and explore rotating activity stations. From group games to quiet crafts, it’s a space designed for organic connection and curiosity-driven learning.
Our classes are hands-on, creative, and designed by parents to spark curiosity. We offer a rotating mix of science experiments, theater and improv, Dungeons & Dragons, art, writing, engineering, nature studies, and more. Classes are grouped by age and shift each session based on family input and volunteer passions—so there’s always something new to explore.
As a member-run co-op, every family contributes to make things run smoothly. Parents are expected to be on-site and actively involved—whether that’s teaching a class, assisting another parent, helping with setup or cleanup, or supporting students during transitions. We match roles based on your strengths and comfort level, and we truly believe that when everyone pitches in, the experience is better for all of us.
Yes—we ask that families commit to attending the full day each week. Consistency helps build strong friendships, keeps classes running smoothly, and ensures that everyone’s contribution is valued. We know life happens now and then, but being present each week is key to creating the kind of supportive, connected community we all want to be part of.
We run two terms each year—Fall and Spring—each lasting 13 weeks. At the end of each term, we host a special Community Day to celebrate what we’ve learned, showcase student projects, and spend time together as a whole group. It’s a great way to wrap up the semester and strengthen our community bonds.
Our co-op is fully parent-led, so yes—parents stay on site for the entire day. We’re a community, not a drop-off program, and your presence is what makes it all work. Whether you’re teaching, assisting, or just helping the day run smoothly, every parent plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging space for all our kids.
We don’t offer a dedicated preschool, but if your family has younger siblings, we’ve got you covered. We provide care and activities for little ones during two class periods, and parents typically get a break during one of them. It’s not a formal preschool, but it’s a warm, engaging space where our youngest co-op members can play, explore, and be part of the community.
Yes! As part of both our Full and Social Memberships, we plan group field trips every 6 to 8 weeks—past trips have included cultural centers, museums, and more. Members also get access to other co-op events like park days, bowling meetups, hikes, and spontaneous get-togethers organized through our private group. It’s all part of building real community beyond the classroom.
Our goal is to avoid traditional fundraising this year—no raffles, no bake sales, no awkward asks. But to make that work, we rely on families to give a little more if they’re able, based on their finances and the value they receive from the co-op. Our base membership keeps things accessible, but generous contributions help us cover costs and keep the experience strong for everyone.
